PROCESS OF MAKING CHARCOAL:


  • stick collection // willow [straight branches / easy to strip the bark]
  • strip the bark
  • cut sticks to size
  • place raw sticks in metal tin with escape hole for impurities
  • place in fire until all impurities have gone and only carbon remains

PAINT EXCAVATION:


4 site pigment samples // purified for paint


p r o c e s s:

stand at the highest point of the selected site

throw a rock in the direction of the wind

wherever the rock lands cut 15cm topsoil [around the rock]

document temperature of each landing point and soil composition

purify soil by sifting x3 times // placing the soil into a metal container with hole in

place into fire until impurities have gone
